On Friday, April 22, 2016 we will celebrate the International Book Day (Officially on April 23. UNESCO) at the CSU Library. Since this year we are also commemorating the 400th university of the death of Cervantes and Shakespeare (1616) both authors will be the center our own CSU celebration. And while we remember Cervantes and Shakespeare, we will honor our own CSU authors.
The activities programmed for the event will include a morning session on Cervantes/Shakespeare with participants from the English, Languages, Literatures & Cultures, and Theatre departments., and a panel with 5 CSU authors from the same 3 units discussing the topic of creative writing. The interesting afternoon sessions will be on the printed world (connecting sciences and humanities, the digital world, and CSU Library Special Collections, and the Book Maintenance Lab at the CSU Library) and on some first printed editions and relevant books/manuscripts of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods. The books selected (and presented by our grad. students) are unique texts in Spanish, Euskera (Vasque), English, French, Arabic, Italian, and Portuguese (all presentations will be in English). The event is free and open to all – come celebrate the book!
