Lorella Paltrinieri has been teaching Italian at CSU since 1992, when she moved to the United States from her native Italy. As a native speaker of Italian, she has had the privilege and pleasure of sharing her language and culture with over 1,000 CSU students. Educated in Italy, Lorella holds degrees in Early Childhood Education and in Translation and Interpretation (primary specialization in English and secondary in French). Beyond teaching, she has also translated books from English into Italian, French into Italian, and French into English. Additionally, she has translated scientific, artistic, and other articles from English into Italian.
Lorella puts passion and enthusiasm into her first- and second-year Italian courses.

- Former students have earned study-abroad scholarships to study in Italy with organizations such as Dante Alighieri.

Lorella enjoys traveling, photography, gardening, and interacting with people from all over the world.
LITA 100 – First Year Italian I
This is an introductory course for aural comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, culture. Students will explore a variety of topics including greetings, travel, cuisine, music, family, TV and Italian film. Prerequisite: No previous study in Italian.
LITA 101 – First Year Italian II
Must have passed LITA 100 or equivalent at an institution abroad or in the US. This is the continuation and enrichment of LITA100 and includes topics such as fashion, careers, sports, health, ecology, art and theater.
LITA 200 – Second Year Italian I
LITA 200 includes multiple activities to help students gain a richer understanding of Italian language, life, and culture. The course helps students learn and use the Italian language through various approaches: oral, verbal, grammatical, and written. The course is conducted entirely in Italian, and LITA 107 (or equivalent) is a prerequisite. LITA 200 is now accredited for AUCC 3B and is also required for the Italian Interdisciplinary Minor.
LITA 201 Second Year Italian II
LITA 201 is a student-centered class focused on engaged, active learning, and involving various reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities to help students gain a richer understanding of Italian life and culture. LITA 201 is now accredited for AUCC 3B and it is required for the Italian Interdisciplinary Minor.
