Biography

M.A., Chinese Languages and Literatures, University of Colorado, Boulder

B.A., Chinese, Brigham Young University, Provo, UT

Nancy lived in Taiwan for 13 years where she was thoroughly immersed in Chinese culture and became fluent in Mandarin Chinese. She was also the owner and head teacher of a successful Chinese-English language school. Returning to America, Nancy has continuously taught Chinese language and culture to persons of all ages and backgrounds.

Nancy’s graduate work focused on female shamans of the Ming and Qing dynasties and how they were accepted or rejected by the prevailing culture.

Loving all things Chinese, Nancy spends a lot of her free time reading contemporary Chinese novels and short stories, watching Chinese films and cooking Chinese food.

Nancy’s interest in Chinese language and culture ensures that her classes are infused with her contagious enthusiasm and are always engaging and inspiring. She is fluent in spoken Mandarin and can read and write both traditional and simplified characters.
