La Catrina has become a global symbol of the Day of the Dead celebration. Its contrast and color summarize, broadly speaking, the tradition of celebrating death among the living. In addition to representing the boundary between two worlds, its name reveals the transformation that the indigenous ritual suffered from the European colonization. This talk analyzes the symbol of La Catrina from a feminist and decolonial perspective to enter into dialogue with the past and the present.
