Biography
Courtenay Biser-Suarez received her M.A.T. (Applied Linguistics and Spanish Literature) from the University of Illinois at Champagne-Urbana in 1991. She is currently a Senior Teacher of Spanish at Colorado State University in Fort Collins where she has taught courses at many levels and often teaches Intermediate levels of Spanish language and culture, Spanish Composition and Grammar, Spanish Oral Communication, and Issues in Hispanic Culture. In addition to teaching she is Coordinator of the Spanish Graduate Teaching Assistants and enjoys mentoring them and supervising their classroom teaching. She authored the videoscript for "Cineastas en accion" for the latest edition (2014) of university level Spanish textbook Mosaicos by Pearson. She has been at Colorado State University since 1998. Prior to teaching in Colorado she lived in El Paso, Texas where she taught Spanish at two different High Schools with large populations of heritage speakers necessitating the creation of materials customized to the needs of Heritage Speakers of Spanish. She also taught Advanced Placement courses of Spanish Literature in El Paso.
