During the widespread of disapproval towards homosexual relationship in the early 90’s, the film directed by Ang Lee was a surprising success. Imagine at the time how heartbreaking two traditional elderly parents with high hope to have a grandson had to be shocked by the fact that their only son was gay. In the end, love prevailed, and the parents decided to adapt and support their son. Almost 30 years after the film was produced, many traditional beliefs still exist, and the movie is still relevant. The movie makes you laugh and appreciate that we can all respect diversity, accept our differences and include people despite their races or sexual orientations.
