Seal of Biliteracy
Your Biliteracy Earns Credits
High school students with a Seal of Biliteracy may qualify for up to 9 university credits in French (LFRE) or Spanish (LSPA) at CSU — putting you well on your way to a minor (21 credits) or even a major (27 credits)!
How to qualify
What You Need
- Official Seal of Biliteracy document submitted to the CSU Registrar’s Office.
- Official exam scores from one of the four accepted testing programs. Informal scores or photos are not accepted.
- AP (Advanced Placement via College Board)
- IB (International Baccalaureate)
- AAPL (ACTFL Assessment via LTI)
- STAMP (Standards-based Proficiency via AVANT)
- For AAPPL & STAMP: Must be tested in all four skill areas — Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking.
Possible Credit Awards – LFRE (French) or LSPA (Spanish)
- 9 credits: ADVANCED WRITING – Courses 200, 201 + 300
- 9 credits: ADVANCED SPEAKING – Courses 200, 201 + 300
- 6 credits: INTERMEDIATE HIGH – Courses 200, 201
- 3 credits: INTERMEDIATE MID – Course 200 only
