The Department of Languages and Global Studies offers a graduate certificate in Spanish for the Veterinary Professional
Spanish for the Veterinary Professional Certificate
Spanish for the Veterinary Professional equips veterinary students and practitioners with the language skills and cultural knowledge needed to better serve Spanish-speaking communities.
Designed for individuals who have completed an undergraduate degree, this specialized program develops practical, field-specific Spanish communication skills for discussing animal health, preventive care, diagnostics, treatment plans, and follow-up care with pet owners. Students learn to take health histories, explain medical conditions, and provide clear care instructions using veterinary terminology in Spanish. Beyond language proficiency, the program fosters cultural awareness and explores strategies for improving access to veterinary services for Spanish-speaking clients.
Spanish for the Veterinary Professional is also available online to D.V.M. students at other institutions and practicing veterinarians.
